Oceania Nautica: Country-Club Luxury

June 10, 2015  |  Share:

I recently had the pleasure of spending a few hours aboard Oceania Cruises Nautica, and I wanted to share my first Oceania Cruises experience with you.

She was in port on her British Isles voyage and with glorious weather, and the majority of her guests ashore, it was the ideal opportunity to get onboard and see what “your world, your way” is all about.

I think I can say that I explored most of her public areas, but there were a few that stood out and it’s these that I am going to share with you now.

First of all, Horizons, a wonderful bar located directly above the bridge and offering floor to ceiling windows, so you can imagine what the views from up here are like. Even in port it was a wonderful place to spend a few moments relaxing before I ventured off to the next location. Horizons is also popular for live music and karaoke – so bring your singing voice and maybe even your dancing shoes – it’s also the ideal stop for pre-dinner drinks.

The library was absolutely stunning, I have never walked into a library on any ship and had the reaction that I did on Oceania Nautica. I felt like I had walked into an old manor house, it was wonderful. It stretched around from the port side to the starboard side and in the middle was a large imitation fireplace – complete with porcelain dogs and a mantle clock. The ceiling was also rather impressive, almost like being inside a large aviary. I really am doing it no justice, you simply have to see it for yourself, but if I were sailing on Nautica I would certainly spend my reading time in the library.

During the tour I also stopped at a few restaurants – Polo Grill, Toscana, Waves Grill, Terrace Café and The Grand Dining Room – the latter in which I sampled a delicious several course lunch. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Caviar, so I had to skip that course, but I enjoyed Risotto All’ Aragosta (served on Versace plates, too, I may add!), Crespelle Alla Fiorentina, and A La Minute Poached Floating Island for dessert. All I can say is that the entire meal was delicious. The menu in The Grand Dining Room changes daily, with a choice of at least ten appetizers, soups and salads and twelve entrées at dinner.

I am a big fan of the open decks and that is one thing that has to be perfect for me, otherwise it could be a downhill experience from there, but I can say that the mid-ships pool area on Nautica was exactly my kind of space. There were numerous places to sit or lounge, a swimming pool, 2 Jacuzzi’s and a bar.  Perfect! I very much liked the large day bed type loungers, they looked incredibly comfortable and were big enough for two – although I think  would want one all to myself if I were enjoying soaking up some Vitamin D.

Oceania Nautica was the kind of ship that I would like to sail aboard, she seemed to really tick all of the right boxes when it came to dining options, accommodation, décor, public lounges and even the individual restaurant menus. Would I recommend her? I most certainly would and I would also recommend you make a reservation for the Polo Grill and try the King’s Cut 320z Prime Rib – I didn’t try it, but I would love to see the evidence that someone else has!

At present we have a range of incredible offers available on selected Oceania Cruises sailings. A lot including free flights and free drinks packages, so now really is the ideal time to book. You can view all voyages included by clicking here.
