Windstar Cruises' Star Class Fleet Set For Refurbishment

Windstar Cruises have announced that their three Star Class ships will be enhanced by a multimillion-dollar expansion programme.

The project, which is called the 'Star Plus Initiative', will take place between October 2019 and November 2020 and cost Windstar Cruises an estimated $250 million.

The initiative's main undertaking will be to increase the capacity available on Star Pride, Star Legend and Star Breeze with the addition of 50 new suites. Similarly to the project which saw Silversea's Silver Spirit lengthened by 49 meters, Windstar Cruises are planning to install a new section on each ship, increasing their length by 25.6 meters and bringing the available number of suites onboard to 156.

The Star Plus Initiative will also focus on enhancing the ships' onboard experience. Working in partnership with New York designed Ray Chung, Windstar will add two brand new dining venues to each ship, as well as a top-deck BBQ area.

Cosmetic improvements will also be made, with new sliding doors added to the ships' existing balconies, a new mid-ship elevator and a more comfortable tender loading area.
