Tradewind Voyages Ready To Launch
In November, reservations will open for a new small ship cruise line called Tradewind Voyages with a maiden voyage scheduled to depart from Harwich in May 2021.
A collection of figureheads from the UK cruise industry is behind the new operator, and have announced that they plan to take guests to "iconic destinations and unique parts of the world, including small bays and beaches between port calls".
All Tradewind Voyages will be aboard the new Golden Horizon, the world's largest square-rigged sailing vessel, and a near replica of the 1913 ocean vessel France II.
Constructed in Croatia, the traditional yet contemporary Golden Horizon is ice-classified and will offer luxury accommodations for no more than 272 guests. All of the ship's 140 cabins have an ocean view, while the Deluxe Cabins and Suites benefit from a private balcony.
Onboard, guests will enjoy freshly prepared cuisine in two venues, the main dining room and the Tropical Bar & Grill. The health and beauty facilities include a salon and spa, while the stern marina will offer water-sports activities such as windsurfing, kayaking and diving.
Tradewind Voyages itineraries have been designed to use Golden Horizon's sails for up to 70% of each season, with the planned routes utilising the prevailing winds and currents to follow the sun, therefore allowing guests to travel the world in a unique way.
Tradewind Voyages first voyage collection will open for reservations on the 2nd November 2020 in the UK. There will be 30 voyages featured, all of which will sail between the 1st May 2021 and the 1st May 2022.
Guests from the UK will be among the first to enjoy the Tradewind Voyages experience, with seven UK Showcase Voyages departing from Harwich and two from Greenock. The itineraries offered will include a tour of the British Isles and a sailing in Norway's Svalbard region. Golden Horizon will also make an appearance at Cowes for the traditional Regatta fireworks display.
Following the UK Showcase Voyages, Golden Horizon will head to Dubrovnik to sail seven voyages navigating the Maritime Silk Route. Cruising from Croatia, she will visit Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Indian Ocean before finishing the year in Asia. In late 2021 and early 2022, Tradewind Voyages will offer sailings in Australia, Japan, Alaska and the South Pacific.
Commenting on the launch of Tradewind Voyages, Chief executive officer Stuart McQuaker said:
"The team is hugely excited by the opportunity to operate this fabulous ship. We are looking forward to her introductory season in the UK and then taking her to some unique parts of the world, on itineraries that are planned to ensure we use the prevailing winds and currents to capitalise on her sailing credentials."
