Swan Hellenic Set To Relaunch In 2021
The famous British cruise brand will return in November 2021 with two brand new expedition-ready ships.
The team behind Swan Hellenic’s relaunch are headed up by Silversea’s former technical operations executive, Andrea Zito, and will be run by the same executive team behind the Russian river cruise brand, Vodohod. Having acquired the brand and client database from G Adventures, the new owners are planning to revitalise Swan Hellenic, with the long-term aim of being regarded as “the leader in cultural expedition cruising”.
Construction of the Swan Hellenic’s two new 152-guest vessels is already underway at the Helsinki Shipyard Oy in Finland, with the first set to launch in November 2021 and the second to follow five months later in April 2022. The state-of-the-art ships - which are currently named Vega 1 and Vega 2 - will boast ice-strengthen hulls and will offer a 5-star onboard experience, complete with luxurious accommodations and wide-open public spaces with unobstructed views of the passing scenery.
Commenting on the launch, CEO Andrea Zito said:
The new Swan Hellenic retains its British heritage whilst being international in outlook. Aimed at the traveller, who wishes to explore, experience and enrich the infinite beauty of the world and its inhabitants in a safe and sustainable way”.
Founded in 1950 by the Swan family, Swan Hellenic started life as a touring company before being purchased by P&O Cruises in 1983. Following P&O’s merger with the Carnival Corp in 2003, the line ceased operations until being acquired by the All Leisure Group. Up until the collapse of All Leisure in 2017, Swan Hellenic had been amongst the most popular cruise brands for guests seeking culturally immersive cruise experiences in destinations including the Mediterranean, Indonesia and the British Isles.
The first voyages for the new-look Swan Hellenic have also been announced, with itineraries planned for Antarctica, the Arctic, the Russian Far East and the Pacific. To find out more, please call our Voyage Consultants on 0800 008 6677.
