Silversea Cruises Purchases Galapagos Explorer II

Luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has announced that they have purchased Galapagos tour operator, Canodros S.A, and their ship, Galapagos Explorer II.

The Galapagos Explorer II is stunning vessel and will succinctly complement Silversea’s existing fleet. Offering 50 ocean-view suites, a marine observation deck and a whole host of upmarket amenities and facilities, the ship is a custom-built adventure cruise vessel that is sure to delight clients who have previously enjoyed voyages with expedition arm of Silversea Cruises, Silversea Expeditions.

Silversea already has one expedition-style vessel in the shape of the Silver Explorer (formerly the Prince Albert II) and it is hoped that the addition of the Galapagos Explorer II – which will be renamed - will bolster their fleet and enable the line to offer a greater variety of high-class expedition-style voyages.

The Galapagos Explorer II is scheduled to complete its current cruise program up until September 2013 when it will be subjected to a major refurbishment by Silversea before embarking on its maiden season for the luxury cruise line.
