Silversea Announce Silver Moon for 2020

Silversea has announced that a new ship, Silver Moon, will join its fleet of luxury cruise ships in Autumn 2020.

Silver Moon will be the tenth addition to Silversea’s fleet of luxury and expedition ships. She follows the 596-guest capacity Silver Muse, which was delivered in April 2017.

Silver Moon will be built in Italy by the Fincantieri shipbuilding company. Based in Trieste, Fincantieri has previously built ships for Seabourn, Viking Ocean Cruises and Ponant. Speaking about the shipbuilders partnership with Silversea, Giuseppe Bono, Fincantieri’s CEO commented:

“We have a trusted relationship with Silversea which was born many years ago and is renewed today thanks to this important order. We are very proud to build a new ship for the Silversea fleet, and follow on from the success of Silver Muse”.

In a statement released by Silversea’s Chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre D’Ovidio, it is confirmed that Silver Moon will be a sister ship to Silver Muse, and will echo her elegant design and onboard innovations. Commenting on the order for the new ship, D’Ovidio said:

“Based on the high praise Silver Muse has earned with our guests, we are eager to build on our flagship’s success and move forward with a sister ship, which brings us closer to fulfilling my father’s dream of a 12-ship fleet”.

One of Silver Moon’s key features will be its “Green Star 3 Design”, which is only awarded to ships that have been designed to minimise air and water pollution. In addition to this, the ship’s design will also factor in onboard noise levels and reduce them in order to offer the very best standards of comfort to the guests on board.
