Silver Cloud To Join Silversea Expeditions Fleet
Silversea has announced that Silver Cloud will be moving to its expedition fleet in November 2017.
Silver Cloud will be converted into an ice-class ship during an extensive refurbishment which is scheduled to start in August 2017. As an expedition vessel, Silver Cloud will sail a range of itineraries that include non-polar regions as well as Arctic and Antarctic voyages, during these cruises her guest numbers will be restricted to 200, but all of her other sailings will offer accommodations for up to 260-guests. Silversea is a member of the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators and the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators, and their guidelines are set strictly in order to ensure sustainable tourism – this means limiting the number of guests who go ashore in certain areas of the Arctic and Antarctic.
When she enters service as a luxury ice-class expedition vessel, she will be the only one offering five dining options: The Dining Room, the Relais & Châteaux® restaurant, La Terrazza, The Grill, and in-suite dining. She will also have the highest space ratio and highest staff-to-guest ratio (nearly one to one) among all luxury ice-class expedition ships.
Her shoreside expeditions will also be rather unique as one team member will guide no more than 12-guests at any one time. Silver Cloud will also offer a fleet of 18 Zodiac crafts for up-close explorations. Silver Explorer currently operates the lines Antarctica voyages, offering her guests numerous days to explore this incredible region.
Silversea Expeditions currently sails three all-suite expedition ships, Silver Explorer, Silver Discoverer, and Silver Galapagos. Collectively, they explore over 500 destinations, from Africa, Australia's Kimberley Coast, and the Russian Far East, to the Galápagos Islands, the British Isles, and the polar realms.
When not exploring ashore, guests can enjoy an onboard programme of destination lectures, photo presentations and daily recaps. Exploratory excursions are complimentary, and led by a team of experts, including marine biologists, ornithologists, geologists, botanists, historians, and anthropologists.
Aboard all vessels within the Silversea expedition fleet, guests can enjoy ocean-view suites, gourmet cuisine, the personalised service of a butler, and a generous selection of all-inclusive shipboard amenities, including complimentary beverages, wines and spirits, a stocked in-suite beverage cabinet, and complimentary Wi-Fi for each guest.
