Seabourn Plans New Luxury Cruise Ship

Seabourn recently confirmed its plans to launch a fourth vessel which is expected to join the fleet in 2016.

The new addition to the fleet is expected to be modelled in a similar style to her sisters Seabourn Quest, Seabourn Odyssey and Seabourn Sojourn. Seabourn have had massive success with the design since the launch of Seabourn Odyssey in 2009 and it wasn’t long before her sisters Sojourn and Quest joined her in 2010 and 2011.

Richard Meadows, Seabourn’s president said “We are pleased to be moving forward with the plans we announced earlier this year to build a fourth ship similar to the highly regarded new design we introduced with Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn, and Seabourn Quest. The experience and the amenities offered by these award-winning ships have raised the bar in ultra-luxury cruising.”

The 450-passenger, all ocean-view vessel will be constructed at the Italian, Fincantieri shipyard.

Gabriele Cocco, Fincantieri’s executive senior vice-president of merchant vessels, said: “We are very pleased to have acquired a new customer like Seabourn and at the same time to have strengthened our historic partnership with the Carnival Group. This agreement is particularly important: It strengthens our leadership in the luxury cruise niche and confirms our primacy in the cruise industry.”

Earlier in the year Seabourn confirmed the sale of Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Legend and Seabourn Spirit to Windstar Cruises, so it is fitting that the line would order a new ultra-luxury ship to fill the gap. The vessels sold to Windstar shall leave the Seabourn fleet in April 2014, April 2015 and May 2015.
