Privacy Policy

The Cruise Line respects and understands the importance of your privacy. The Privacy Policy below sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, via this website or other correspondence, will be processed by us.

In all cases we promise to adhere to the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Data Protection Act 1998. We, The Cruise Line Ltd are the Data Controller for the www.cruiseline.co.uk website. By making a purchase or by submitting your personal data via this website, by telephone or by written correspondence, you agree to the storing and processing of it as set out below.

Information we collect and why:

There are three main ways in which we collect your personal information:

1. Personal Infomation for marketing use

We collect personal details, such as your name, address, telephone and email address only when you use our website to send us an enquiry, order a brochure, register with us for competitions, events, shows, promotions or sign up to receive email newsletters from us.

The personal data we collect in these instances may be used by us to contact you by post and/or electronic means (e-mail or text message) with information and offers relating to similar products or services about which you enquired or expressed an interest in. Should you provide us with your postal address, we may also contact you if we are holding a travel-related event in your area, or if we will be exhibiting at a travel-related show near you.

We will only do this if you did not opt out of such marketing at the point where we collected your contact details, or if you have subsequently opted out. In the event that you opted out of receiving marketing at the time of making an enquiry or brochure request (or subsequently), these will be the only basis of our correspondence with you.

Opting out of marketing use:

You have the right at any time to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by ticking certain boxes on the forms we use to collect your data.

You can exercise your right to opt out at any time by sending an unsubscribe request to: The Marketing Team, The Cruise Line, Cruise Line House, 109-111 High Street, West Sussex, BN6 9PU. You can also call us on 0800 008 6677.

2. Personal information for booking and travel arrangements

In order to process your booking and to ensure that your travel arrangements run smoothly and meet your requirements we need to use the information you provide such as name, address, any special needs/dietary requirements etc.

We take full responsibility for ensuring that the correct security measures are in place to protect your information. We must pass the information on to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements such as your cruise line, tour operator, airlines, hotels, transport companies etc. The information may also be provided to security or credit checking companies, public authorities such as customs/immigration if required by them, or as required by law.

Information we collect may be 'sensitive personal data' (for example 'special requirements' information relating to disability, diet, health or religion) in which case we will only collect, retain and pass it on with your consent.

3. Automatically collected information:

When you visit our website, we collect and temporarily store certain elements of technical information about your visit and behaviour. To do this, The Cruise Line uses Google Analytics and Cookies.

The information we store can include the type of browser (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc) you used, your operating system (Mac, Windows), the type of device you used (Mobile phone, desktop PC, tablet), the date and time you used our site and the pages you visited.

We store this information so that we can further improve the online experience for our visitors. At no time do we make any attempt to identify you as an individual. Raw data logs are retained temporarily as required for security and site management purposes.

Our Cookie Policy:

A cookie is a piece of code that is downloaded onto your PC when you visit a website. Certain cookies are necessary in order for you to use The Cruise Line website. These are used 'in-session' each time you visit and then expire when you leave the site. They’re not stored on your computer and they don't contain any personal data. However, you can delete them via your browser if you wish to, but this will restrict the functions that you're able to carry out on our sites.

At The Cruise Line we use cookies in a number of ways to help enhance your experience whilst browsing our website.

Session Cookies:

Session cookies enable you to carry out some essential functions on our website. They also help by minimising the need to transfer information across the internet. They are not stored on your computer and they expire when you terminate your browser session.

Performance Tracking Cookies:

These cookies do several jobs relating to the performance of our website: reporting how well our websites suit your needs and helping us to identify any problem areas, and reporting on the efficiency of our advertising.

They enable us to recognise repeat visitors to the site. By matching an anonymous, randomly generated identifier, we're able to record specific browsing information such as how you arrive at the site, the pages you view, options you select, and the path you take through the site. By monitoring this information we’re able to make improvements to our sites.

We use Google Analytics to analyse page use, page interactions and the routes our customers take through our sites. These are known as 'web metrics'.

We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices (in particular device's IP address (captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), preferred language used to display our website). Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user. For further details, please see Hotjar’s privacy policy by clicking on this link.

You can opt-out to the creation of a user profile, Hotjar’s storing of data about your usage of our site and Hotjar’s use of tracking cookies on other websites by following this opt-out link.

These cookies don't record any personal information you provide during an on-site purchase or any other process.

We place advertising on the web through our advertising partners and they use targeting cookies to make sure the ads we show you are relevant to you.

We also use social media buttons that allow you to like or share our website with your social networks. For example, the Facebook ‘like’ functions or sharing works using cookies too.

You can accept or block cookies:

You can block any cookies from any website through your browser settings. For more information about how to disable cookies in your browser please visit the About Cookies website, www.allaboutcookies.org . You can also view Google’s Privacy Policy here.

If you share the use of a computer, accepting or rejecting the use of cookies will affect all users of that computer.
