Porto Vecchio Corsica Cruises

Genoa or more exactly the St George Office founded Porto-Vecchio towards 1540 to reinforce defenses in the east of the island.

There was not any fortified town between the Bastia and Bonifacio: the gulf lent itself has the installation of a sure port.

Unfortunately, the site was unhealthy, paludic: the genoese colonists of the beginning then the Corsicans were victims of the malaria, endemic and mortal.

Today Porto Vecchio became the third town of Corsica and is spread out over the edges of its superb gulf, from Santa Giulia to Palombaggia, which it superbly dominates with his famous Bastion.

A commercial port connects the city to the French and Italian continent, and its marina counts among most important of the Island.
