New Seabourn Ship Details

In the next few months more details of the new Seabourn ship are set to be unveiled. Here’s what we believe guests can expect onboard…

The new - as yet unnamed - Seabourn ship is being built at the famous Fincantieri shipyard and is expected to commence service in June 2016. Situated in north-eastern Italy, the Fincantieri shipyard has an illustrious history for the construction of luxury cruise ships having previously worked on Oceania Cruises’ Marina, Silversea’s Silver Spirit and Cunard’s Queen Victoria.

At 40,350-GT, the latest addition to the Seabourn Cruises fleet is expected to be roughly 26% larger than the line’s three existing Odyssey-class ships; Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Quest and Seabourn Sojourn. The new ship is expected to have a capacity of approximately 604 passengers, based on double-occupancy of the all-suite lower berths.

Seabourn’s president, Richard D. Meadows had this to say about the ship:

“The new ship will continue the evolution that began with Seabourn’s fleet expansion, adding modern design elements and innovations consistent with Seabourn’s reputation for understated elegance”.

While the exact specifications of the ship’s design are being kept under-wraps, we do know that the layout will be largely based on Seabourn’s Odyssey-class vessels, but with the addition of an extra deck and more expansive public areas.

We also know that Adam D. Tihany, who sits on the advisory Board of the New York School of Interior Design, has been contracted to create the indoor and outdoor guest areas of the ship as well as the vessel’s multiple dining venues, casino and spa. The ship will also house the multi-purpose Seabourn Square – which is such a popular feature of the existing fleet.
