New No-smoking Rules For Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises has announced that from January 2012 smoking will no longer be allowed in their cabins and on their balconies. The new rule, which will be in place from the 15th January is said to be representative of “changing customer preferences” as Princess Cruises’ executive vice-president explains:

“Our consumer studies now show that smokers are in a small minority of our passengers and that the large majority of passengers value having their primary living space onboard smoke-free”

This new legislation follows the implementation of new no-smoking laws throughout northern America and Europe and will be enforced by way of a $250 fine for each offence.

Smokers will still be allowed to ‘light up’ in designated areas onboard each Princess vessel, with spaces included the cigar loungers, portions of the open decks and allocated areas within the nightclubs and casinos.
