Laura Dekker Announced As Hanseatic INSPIRATION Godmother
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises have announced that around-the-world sailor Laura Dekker will be godmother to their new ship, Hanseatic INSPIRATION.
The 230-guest capacity ship is set to commence her service for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises following a naming ceremony in Hamburg, Germany, on the 11th October. Hosted by science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar, the naming ceremony will celebrate Hanseatic INSPIRATION's expedition leanings, with the ship taking centre stage, surrounded by guests watching from the water in Zodiacs.
Laura Dekker is a renowned sailor who rose to prominence during her 2010 solo circumnavigation of the world. She has since gone on to sail more than 50,000 nautical miles and is a noted author and motivational speaker. She is also the founder of the Laura Dekker World Sailing Foundation, which seeks to provide sailing experiences for children from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Commenting on Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' decision to name her Hanseatic INSPIRATION's Godmother, CEO Karl J. Pojer said:
"Laura Dekker is the perfect godmother for our new, international expedition ship. With her enthusiasm for nature, her spirit of adventure and her love of the sea, she represents the very essence of expedition cruises".
Designed to offer a five-star expedition cruise experience, Hanseatic INSPIRATION is the sister-ship to Hanseatic NATURE, which launched in spring 2019, and Hanseatic SPIRIT which is set to arrive in 2021.
Hanseatic INSPIRATION's service for Hapag-Lloyd begins in Antarctica, where she will spend the winter, before heading north, via Central America and the Caribbean, for a summer season in the USA and Greenland.
