Keel Laid For Seven Seas Splendor
Following a keel-laying ceremony in Italy, work is now underway on Regent Seven Seas hotly-anticipated new ship, Seven Seas Splendor.
The event took place at the famous Fincantieri Shipyard in Ancona, Italy, which previously managed the construction of Regent’s Seven Seas Explorer. Leading the keel-laying event was Fincantieri’s Shipyard Director, Giovanni Stecconi, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Jason Montague.
In-keeping with tradition, three coins were welded into the keel; a commemorative gesture which is said to bring good fortune to the ship and those who travel on her.
Closely matching the design and build of Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Splendor will cater for up 750 guests and offer one of the most luxurious experiences at sea. Similarly to Explorer, she will boast a variety of fine-dining venues, a Canyon Ranch spa and a range of elegant accommodations. The jewel in her crown is reportedly the lavish ‘Regent Suite’; a 444,2 square foot space which has its own steam room, a heated spa on the balcony and ceramic-heated loungers.
Speaking at the event, Mr Montague said:
“In our pursuit to exceed guest expectations, we are creating a work of art from bow to stern. Wherever you turn on Seven Seas Splendor, you will be surrounded by elegance, comfort and hospitality.”
Reservations for Seven Seas Splendor’s inaugural season, which will feature a range of European itineraries in 2020, will open on 12th July 2018. For more information, please call our Voyage Consultants on 0800 008 6677.
