Hurtigruten Northern Lights 2017/18 Schedule Released

Hurtigruten has released a new collection of Northern Lights and Arctic Highlights voyages for 2017/18.

Reservations for the new collection of itineraries are now open and are perfect if you wish to explore Norway’s stunning coastline and see the incredible Northern Lights during your time in the region.

Hurtigruten’s Northern Lights cruises are always in high demand, largely owing to the fact that the operator virtually guarantees you will see the spectacle during the course of your voyage.

Sailing from Bergen to Kirkenes, you will witness the change in scenery as you travel north towards the Arctic Circle. It is during this stretch of the itinerary that many guests catch their first glimpse of Aurora Borealis.

However, should you book one of these sailings (either the 12-day Classic Round Voyage or the 12-day Astronomy Voyage between 1st Oct 16 and 31 st March 17) and do NOT see the Northern Lights, Hurtigruten will offer you a FREE 6-day Classic Voyage South or a 7-day Classic Voyage North.

Hurtigruten – New Additions for 2017/18

In 2017/18, Expedition Teams will be introduced to seven of Hurtigruten’s vessels on the Norwegian coastline. The teams, which have proved extremely popular on previous voyages, will be on-hand throughout every sailing to offer insight into Norway’s culture, wildlife and history through lectures, on-deck activities and expertly-guided shore excursions.

Young Explorers & Cultural Voyages with Hurtigruten

Hurtigruten has also introduced a Young Explorers Program for 7-13 year-olds (on selected ships) as well as a unique concept for MS Vesterålen – a working ship – bringing you closer and giving you an authentic taste of Hurtigruten’s day-to-day operation.

The line has also announced that their Cultural Voyages will continue throughout the 2017/18 programme, with itineraries focused on demonstrating how the region’s rugged terrain and captivating landscape had an impact in shaping Norwegian history, art and music.
