Hapag-Lloyd Ships Retain Top Berlitz Ranking
The two ships are the only recipients of the coveted distinction in the 2019 edition and both have routinely scored highly in the past. EUROPA has received the ranking no less than 19 times, which her sister-ship, the newer EUROPA 2, has been awarded a 5-star-plus grade six times.
Compiled by author Douglas Ward, The Berlitz Cruise Guide seeks to rank cruise ships based on many factors, including ship hardware, accommodation, cuisine, facilities, entertainment and the overall cruise experience.
The 2019 Berlitz Cruise Guide features a total of 300 cruise ships, each one given a score out of a possible 2000. EUROPA, which has been in service for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises since 1999, scored 1,852 points, while 2012's EUROPA 2 scored 1,864.
In a press release, Mr Ward praised the ships for the "attentive, friendly yet unobtrusive service" guests receive onboard, whilst also commending the "excellent gastronomic offerings and the outstanding amount of space per guest".
Hapag-Lloyd's CEO, Karl J. Pojer, welcomed the report and stated that the rankings came as a result of the company working hard to fulfil their "quality promise":
"We are proud, once again, to have defended our top position with the EUROPA and EUROPA 2. The renewed 5-star-plus rating shows how hard we work to fulfil our quality promise to our guests and to continue developing both ships. I would particularly like to thank our crew members on board and our employees in Hamburg, who spend every day creating unique and outstanding experiences for our guests."
Hoping to enjoy similar success will be Hapag-Lloyd's two new ships, MS HANSEATIC Nature and MS HANSEATIC Inspiration, both of which are set to make their debut next year.
