Elaine Paige Announced As Seabourn Ovation Godmother

Seabourn have announced that British actress/singer Elaine Paige will be Godmother to the ultra-luxury cruise line’s new ship, Seabourn Ovation.

The announcement comes following the news that the official naming ceremony of Seabourn Ovation will take place on 11th May in Valletta, Malta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the current European Capital of Culture.

Renowned for her West End theatre performances, which have included appearances in Evita and Cats, Elaine Paige has also featured in dramas on the BBC, ITV and as the host of her own show on SKY Arts. Away from the screen and stage, she has dedicated much of her time supporting charities such as The Children’s Trust and is an Ambassador to the Royal Voluntary Service.

Commenting on the news that she will preside over proceedings at the naming ceremony, Ms Paige said:

“I am so honoured to have been asked to be Godmother to Seabourn Ovation,” Elaine says, “Seabourn’s legendary service has the same DNA as a hit West End show: a dedicated cast of professionals who all come together to deliver a superb performance, whatever their role. I can’t wait to board the beautiful Seabourn Ovation and send her off into the world!”

Seabourn Ovation is the 5th addition to the Seabourn fleet and follows Seabourn Encore, which entered service for the Seattle-based operator in 2016. Offering a capacity for 604 guests in beautiful all-suite accommodation, Seabourn Ovation will embark on her inaugural sailing from Venice to Barcelona on 5th May 2018 and will then spend the rest of the summer cruising the Mediterranean, before heading to Asia for the winter season.
