Egypt Adventure Cruises

When it comes to adventure travelling, it doesn’t come much more real and engrossing than Egypt, where your cruise experience is not so much an expedition as a journey in time travel, taking in some of the greatest historical treasures on the planet.

The history of Egypt, and the essential artery of the amazing Nile, covers thousands of years and an epic sequence of cultures and civilisations, and the story of this vast sweep of time and creativity is perfectly set out as you traverse part of the world’s longest river.

Typical voyages sail either from the ancient city of Luxor (with the attendant towns of Karnak and Thebes) to Aswan or vice versa, although other variations carry on up to the ancient Roman settlement and Temple of Dendera. Optional pre or post-cruise stays in Cairo and Luxor are also available, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in this astounding archeological heritage.

Along the way, you will discover the magnificent realm of the Pharoahs, the arrival of the mighty Roman Empire and the modern marvel of the Aswan Dam. You will also visit bazaars alive with colour and fragrant spices, and gain a true appreciation for the country’s unique diversity.

In the company of expert guides, you will witness the artistic and scientific brilliance of the ancient rulers at first hand, along with a cultural vibrancy that has been maintained from the earliest settlements of the fertile Nile Valley to Egypt today.

And, while the pace of river life is slow and steady, you will find plenty to keep yourself active on the many shore excursions and side-trips. The heat (which can approach 30°C even in winter) ensures any form of activity is fairly adventurous, with much of the sight-seeing and touring requiring a fairly sound constitution!

Best time to travel to Egypt: October to mid-April (although cruises run year-round)
Weather: Hot and hotter (although winter nights can be cool); temperatures vary from 15 to 40°C with river levels also being at their lowest in summer.
Flight times: 4.5 hours from London to Cairo; 5.5 hours from London to Aswan.
Recommended Egypt Tours: A popular add-on to a Nile river cruise is a stay in the ancient city of Cairo. If you would like to extend your stay in a beach resort, then we can arrange for a stay in Sharm el Sheikh, Hurgada or Taba.

Other tailor-made pre and post cruise hotel stays and land tours are available on request.
