Overlooked by Mt Bulandstindur, Djupivogur lies on the east coast of Iceland at the entrance to the Berufjordur, sitting on a rock promontory inview of the offshore island of Papey, renowned for its bird life. The area is also famous for its quartz and zeolite minerals. Its rocks are amongst the oldest in Iceland, formed from the extinct Breiddalur volcano.
