Crystal Cruises Unveil ‘Living Wall’ On Crystal Symphony

Luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises recently unveiled what they claim to be world’s first free-standing, self contained living wall at sea.

Passengers aboard the Crystal Symphony for the ‘British Isle Brilliance’ sailing were amongst the first to catch a glimpse of the unique feature, which is a self-contained vertical garden with plants planted in formation so give to give an impression of the world map.

Situated in the Trident Grill on Deck 11 of the 922-capacity vessel, the living wall stands at an impressive 37 foot in length and just under 8 foot in height.

Alexandra Dion, the Vice-President of Crystal Cruises believes that the living wall is in-keeping with Crystal’s cruise experience and stated:

“We wanted to create a focal point that was both highly contemporary and visually stunning. The end result is a living wall that brings the Trident Grill to life and serves as an eye-catching backdrop to the incomparable service and choices that characterise a Crystal holiday”.

Aside from the walls obvious aesthetic advantages, it also has a further benefit as it acts as bio-filter and aids in reducing greenhouse gasses by transforming harmful, contaminated air in to clean oxygen. The wall will be looked after and regularly maintained by Crystal’s own team of resident florists.
