Blythe Danner Named Seabourn Quest’s Godmother

Hollywood actress Blythe Danner was announced this week as the godmother of Seabourn Cruises’ newest vessel, Seabourn Quest.

Quest’s naming ceremony is due to take place in Barcelona on 20th June 2011 with Danner heading the naming celebrations. Following the ceremony, the 450 capacity cruise ship will embark on her maiden voyage which will see her sail from the Spanish city to Athens in Greece. From there she will begin her first season with a series of 7-night Mediterranean and Black Sea voyages.

Danner, whose latest films include Meet the Parents and Waiting for Forever, has enjoyed a career in film and television spanning nearly 40 years and was recently awarded the Katharine Hepburn Medal in recognition of her “intelligence, drive and determination”. Seabourn’s president Richard Meadows believes that the actress is the perfect choice for godmother of the cruise ship, commenting:

“Blythe Danner perfectly embodies the blend of style and sophistication, of emotional depth with a unique sense of fun that sparks the social atmosphere onboard a Seabourn ship”.

Danner follows Jennifer Hudson (Disney Dream) and Shirley Bassey (P&O’s Adonia) in being named as the godmother of a new cruise ship.
