Battle of the Bars

Cruise lines are always creating new ideas for venues onboard their ships and with ice bars, state of the art wine machines and elevator bars it’s definitely a battle of the cruise ships to have the best and most luxurious venues.

Royal Caribbean International Cruises are certainly a competitor with their amazing ‘Rising Tide Bar’ on both the Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas. The elevator-like bar is able to move between decks and is said to be busy day and night. The bar is fully stocked and can move between the Royal Promenade and Central Park areas of the ship.

Not far behind is Norwegian Cruise Line with their stunning ‘Ice Bar’ located on their new ship, the Norwegian Epic. The bar is kept at -8 degrees celsius and guests are provided with faux fur coats, gloves and hats. The bar will be open every night from 5pm until 10pm and only holds 24 people.

Other new innovative venues include the Mix bar located on a number of Holland America Line Cruise ships, introducing a venue that combines three types of bar, Martini, champagne and Spirits and Ales; and the wine bar on the Celebrity Solstice class ships which enables guests to taste wines without purchasing the whole bottle due to the new Enomatic wine machine.
