River Cruises

If you haven’t been on a river cruise before – or if you’re thinking about trying one as an alternative to your usual ‘ocean-based’ cruise holiday – then the first thing you’ll probably notice is how different the ships are from their sea-based counterparts. Many river cruise ships tie up right in the heart of a city or town, giving you the freedom to be able sample the local life and culture without ever needing to venture too far from your floating hotel. Some itineraries also allow for overnight stays with the lines organising comprehensive shore excursions that pack the best a city or country has to offer into a realised day trip.
