The EUROPA, the flagship of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, meets the highest culinary standards on all its voyages around the world with its four onboard restaurants. In addition, in the coming year, there are eight specific culinary pleasure cruises on the timetable for gourmets with high standards.
Onboard the ship that the Berlitz Cruise Guide rated as the only five-star-plus vessel in the world, two chefs offer a rich variety of top-class cuisine in the four restaurants. In the Europa Restaurant haute cuisine is served with à la carte dishes that change every day. For dinner with a few close friends, the two speciality restaurants "Oriental" and "Venezia" present Euro-Asian and Italian cuisine. In the Lido Cafà © buffets and small meals are served from breakfast to evening meal with an open barbecue to catch the eye - a light alternative to the three elegant restaurants.
In addition, on selected voyages, renowned star chefs will be onboard to offer guests exquisite and perfectly produced food that is appropriate to the regions being visited. Star chefs Karlheinz Hauser and Holger Bodendorf will start things off: The two northern Germans will undertake a culinary voyage with EUROPA&s guests to the South Seas from Honolulu to Australia from 1st to 24th February 2008. This is also the first of three bilingual pleasure voyages. On the second voyage from Barcelona to Piraeus from 28th September to 12th October 2008, gourmets can expect an interesting mix of southern European cuisine and Austrian tradition with guest chef Toni Moerwald. The exotic diversity of South African cooking is the culinary theme of the last bilingual voyage from Port Louis to Cape Town from 24th November to 12th December 2008.
On 16th June 2008 EUROPA's best will come onboard for the fifth time in Antwerp: International star chefs, winegrowers, chocolatiers and cheese makers will change the Lido Deck into a true gourmet parade. On this voyage, epicures will travel from Bilbao to Hamburg (6th to 18th June) enjoying delights along the way visiting the winegrowing estates of the Medoc or enjoying an oyster special onboard.
