Torghatten Cruises

Situated in the Bronnoy area of Norway, Torghatten is a mountain famous for having a hole through its middle. Legend tells that this hole was formed by a troll called ‘Hestmannen’ whilst in pursuit of a beautiful girl named ‘Lekamoya’. Finding he could not catch the girl he fired an arrow at her which was stopped by the troll-king of Somna who threw his hat in front of the arrow. The mountain of Torghatten was made when this hat was turned to stone, with the arrow piercing making the famous hole. The hole measures 160m in length, 35m wide and 20m high. More likely the tunnel was made during the Ice Age when the lower softer rocks were eroded, leaving the harder higher rocks to form the mountain. The adventurous may chose to climb the well maintained path up to the hole and walk through it.
