The island and state of Tasmania is located south of mainland Australia below the region of Queensland. The majority of the island is mountainous but the coast offers some fantastic beaches that are great for water sports. Walking and cycling are popular activities on the island and are a great way to explore the wildlife and sites Tasmania has to offer. Other smaller islands around mainland Tasmania include King Island and Maria Island. The waters surrounding the country are popular for diving due to the diverse marine life.
