Statendam is mainly favored by North American guests but also attracts a few International passengers who are seeking a varied cruising experience. This sister of the series of four ships was the first one to be introduced to the Holland American Line cruises. The Statendam has finely decorated areas with expensive paintings made by one of the ex-captains. This multi-million Artwork collection gives a history of the other ships that have carried the name of Statendam. The Statendam can lodge more than 1200 passengers with great choice of cabins sizes and prices. This ship has over 750 cabins, mostly with sea views and a separate living room. The suites’ guests have all day access to the Neptune Lounge where food bites and small breakfast is served and there is an onsite consierge service to help with reservations and booking of activities and restaurants etc. With two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), a Spa/Fitness center surrounded by big sea view windows, plus the sunbathing areas with teakwood chairs or plastic sun loungers, a casino, a library or a card room there is something for everyone to enjoy the ship activities. The dining choice on the Statendam varies from the big and spacious room, spread on two decks called the Rotterdam, to the Pinnacle Grill Restaurant where good grilled fish and meat are served, but the reservation is required; to the Lido cafe with casual atmosphere, serving food all day with open seating plans but we have to mention that this restaurant is closed on the last day of each cruise.
