Silver Explorer is a purpose-built expedition ship offering itineraries in several of the world’s most remote regions, including Antarctica, the Arctic, and the Pacific Islands.

Silver Explorer joined the Silversea Cruises fleet in 2007 and was the luxury cruise operator’s first expedition vessel. Equipped with an ice-strengthened hull and a fleet of 12 Zodiacs, she offers a high standard of service and comfort for no more than 144 guests.

Although small, Silver Explorer provides guests with a luxurious onboard experience. The all-suite accommodation is spacious, with many of the available categories boasting a sizable private balcony. The onboard dining venues offer enough variety to satisfy even the most discerning palettes, while the ship’s public areas and various lounges allow enough room for personal time or mingling with fellow travellers.

Exploration is at the heart of the Silver Explorer experience. Therefore the ship is ideal for couples and solo travellers looking to discover off-the-beaten-path regions on an all-inclusive ship. To further enhance your adventure, all Silver Explorer cruises are accompanied by an Expedition Team who will lead daily briefings, Zodiac trips and shore excursions.

Silver Explorer Dining

The Restaurant on Silver Explorer

The Restaurant on Silver Explorer.

There are two dining venues on Silver Explorer. Located on Deck 4, The Restaurant is the ship’s main dining room and is open for all meals throughout the day. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, while dinner is table service. The cuisine served in The Restaurant is a mix of regionally-inspired dishes and international favourites.

The second dining venue is The Grill. During the day, The Grill serves burgers, sandwiches and gourmet salads, with alfresco dining available should you choose to do so. In the evening, The Grill offers an excellent alternative to The Restaurant and offers fresh meats, fish, and vegetables prepared and cooked on a lava stone at your table.

Activities, Entertainment & Facilities

Guests Deck Silver Explorer

Guests congregating on the deck of Silver Explorer.

The majority of the day-to-day activities you can enjoy on a Silver Explorer cruise revolve around the itinerary and the region you are sailing. Therefore, the ship’s Explorer Lounge is a popular spot and is where most of the Expedition Team’s daily briefings take place.

Silversea endeavours to provide Zodiac trips twice daily, and – weather permitting – these represent the best way to explore and witness landscapes and wildlife many seldom see. Depending on the itinerary, you may also enjoy hikes and kayaking excursions to landmarks and places of interest.

Should relaxation be a priority – especially after a days’ adventures – you’ll find no shortage of options on Silver Explorer. Tor’s Observation Lounge provides bar service and sweeping panoramic views of the ocean and passing landscapes, while the Panorama Lounge is the perfect spot for a nightcap or a catch up with your fellow explorers. Best of all is the ship’s Zagara Spa, which offers a range of high-end treatments, including massages, facials and body wraps.

With discovery and adventure at the forefront of the experience, you will find that the evening entertainment on Silver Explorer is relatively low key. Cocktails in one of the ship’s lounges are popular with many guests, while others decide to get an early night so that they are fresh and ready for the next day.

Other facilities include a beauty salon, the Connoisseur’s Corner (for cigars and cognac), a fitness centre, a boutique and a swimming pool.
