P&O’s Arcadia Returning To Brisbane

P&O Cruises has announced that Acadia is set to be the first British cruise ship to return to flood-ravaged Brisbane. The 2000 capacity vessel follows Silversea’s Silver Shadow which sailed to Australia’s third largest city on Friday 21st January, the first to do so following the devastating floods which destroyed over 30,000 properties since their surge through the Queensland city in late December.

P&O Cruises Managing Director, Carol Marlow, believes that the goodwill of P&O’s passengers will offer some support in what has been an immeasurably difficult time for the local communities, stating “We will be asking our passengers and crew to donate any spare Australian dollars they have during their holiday to go towards re-building Brisbane to the city we know and love.”.

Tourism Australia are hoping that visitors to the region will aid the city’s recovery, commenting that many of the popular tourist destinations are already beginning to function normally following over a month of disruption.

Arcadia
will be followed into Brisbane by Regent’s Seven Seas Voyager and Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas in late February.
