Oceania Cruises’ latest vessel, Marina, was christened in a stunning ceremony on Saturday, heralding the start of her service for the premium-luxury cruise line.
Marina, which is said to set the standard for luxury cruise ships, began her service at the beginning of 2011, embarking her on maiden voyage from Barcelona and reaching Miami on 4th February. The naming ceremony was a grand affair, with America’s Entertainment Tonight host Mary Hart undertaking the naming proceedings, culminating in a 15-litre Nebuchadnezzar of custom-made Armand de Brignac christening the ship.
The ceremony also saw world-renowned chef, Jacques Pepin, appointed honorary commodore of Oceania’s fleet, which also includes Insignia, Regatta and Nautica.
Oceania Cruises’ Marina has a busy inaugural season ahead, with 2 Panama Canal cruises coming before a brief Caribbean stint before heading to the Mediterranean for the summer.
