The Mitchell River and its tributaries have carved spectacular gorges and waterfalls into the limestone cliffs bordering the Mitchell Plateau. Giant palms proliferate in the open eucalypt forest of this national park, and it is the ideal location for spotting some of Australia's unique native wildlife such as quolls and wallabies as well as sacred Aboriginal rock art.
