Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has announced that they will expand their fleet with the addition of 2 new ships in 2013. Their luxury class offering will be bolstered by the arrival of Europa 2 whilst their premium class will see the arrival of Oceania’s Insignia as part of a 2-deal charter, with the 349-cabin ship being renamed
This will be the first time that Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will have 2 ships of the same name within the luxury class, with Europa 2 being positioned alongside the all-ready existing Europa cruise ship.
Construction on the 516 capacity Europa 2 will begin this autumn, with the new vessel set to offer a casual, modern 5-star alternative to that of the popular Europa. Initial plans are for her to offer 7 day Mediterranean cruises throughout the summer months before visiting more ‘faraway’ destinations in the winter.
