Crystal Cruises

Cruise Line > Crystal
Crystal

Founded in 1990, Crystal Cruises spent three decades building a reputation as one of the finest luxury cruise lines at sea. In 2022, it was acquired by the A&K Travel Group, which reimagined what Crystal could mean in the modern era. The line’s two highly-lauded ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony, returned to service in 2023 with an array of new features, once again establishing Crystal as the benchmark for anyone looking for a luxury cruise holiday that combines ample space, incredible facilities and world-class service.

At 740 and 606 guests respectively, neither of Crystal’s ships could be considered ‘small’, but this is something that many of our loyal Crystal Society members love. With butler service for every guest, nine dining venues, and the only Nobu restaurant at sea, the experience offers true freedom of choice without ever feeling anything but personal. Spend a day aboard Serenity or Symphony, and you’ll know your butler’s name by the evening – this combination of big ship amenities and small-ship intimacy is a difficult balance, but one that is at the hallmark of the Crystal experience.

Crystal offers cruise holidays on all seven continents, from short taster sailings to continent-crossing grand journeys and once-in-a-lifetime world cruises. Whether you’re looking for a Mediterranean taster or a far-flung adventure in Asia or South America, this depth of choice is something that will only improve with the arrival of a third ship, Crystal Grace, which is scheduled to join the fleet in 2028.

Crystal Ships

Crystal Serenity

Crystal Serenity

740 Guests

One of the world’s most acclaimed luxury cruise ships, Crystal Serenity perfects the combination of big ship-style facilities and small ship ambience. Since her debut for Crystal Cruises in 2002, the vessel has delighted thousands of guests looking for an onboard experience that offers luxury and elegance without compromising on multiple dining options, idyllic accommodations, and dazzling entertainment.

Like her sister, Crystal Symphony, the ship was subject to extensive ongoing renovations following A&K’s purchase of Crystal Cruises in 2022. As a result, the vessel now boasts larger staterooms – all with butler service – and accommodations explicitly reserved for solo travellers. In addition, all of Crystal Serenity’s public spaces, such as Palm Court, have been modernised and furnished with new upholstery and carpets. Furthermore, with pre- and post-cruise arrangements now handled by A&K, guests can expect to enjoy enhanced destination experiences both before and after their voyage.

Like her sister, Crystal Serenity, a cruise on Crystal Symphony guarantees the best-in-class service, sweeping ocean views, world-class dining experiences, and an impressive variety of entertainment to suit every mood.

crystal cruises accommodation double guest

Your home at sea

Crystal offers seven accommodation categories across both ships, ranging from ocean-view staterooms to the palatial Crystal Penthouse Suite. Every room was refurbished as part of the 2023 refit, and the difference is immediately noticeable. Clean lines, soft tones, quality finishes throughout. It feels more like a boutique hotel than a cruise ship.

crystal cruises butler service

Butler service for every guest

Unlike most luxury lines where butler service is reserved for top-tier suites, Crystal extends it to every guest regardless of cabin category. Your butler will stock your minibar to your preferences, make dining reservations, and is reachable via the in-room iPad. It’s one of those details that sounds like a brochure line until you experience it.

crystal cruises suites

Suites

Suite guests step up in space and privacy considerably. The larger categories feature separate bedrooms, generous balconies, rainfall showers with side jets, and genuinely spa-like bathrooms. Ortigia Sicilia toiletries, a Nespresso machine, and pre-arrival champagne are standard. Guests can even pre-order a full-sized spirit bottle before embarkation.

crystal cruises onboard dining

Nine venues, all included

Dining on Crystal is all-inclusive across all nine venues, with no surcharges and no cover charges. That includes the speciality restaurants, which at most comparable lines would cost extra. Whether you want a six-course dinner or a poolside burger, it’s all part of the fare. Open seating throughout means you eat where you want, when you want.

crystal cruises waterside restaurant

The headline venues

Waterside is the main restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with menus that shift to reflect the region you’re sailing through. Osteria d’Ovidio is the headline Italian venue, consistently one of the most talked-about dinners on any Crystal sailing. Beefbar, the globally renowned steakhouse concept, serves premium cuts and has quickly become a favourite since joining the programme.

crystal cruises dining umi uma restaurant

Umi Uma by Nobu

Crystal is home to the only Nobu restaurant at sea. Umi Uma serves the Japanese-Peruvian cuisine that has made Nobu Matsuhisa one of the most recognised names in global dining, prepared by his personally trained chefs. Reservations are required and fill quickly, though guests can dine at the sushi bar without a booking or cover charge. Worth knowing before you sail.

crystal cruises dining trident grill

Beyond the main restaurants

The Bistro is a Parisian-style café serving pastries and deli snacks throughout the day, perfect between ports. The Vintage Room hosts private wine-paired dinners for up to fourteen guests. The Trident Grill does freshly made burgers and wraps with a finesse that makes poolside lunch feel considered rather than casual. In-suite dining is available around the clock.

crystal cruises palm court

Spaces to gather

Both ships have a range of social spaces that feel genuinely different from one another rather than variations on the same lounge. The Palm Court is the social heart of the ship, bright and panoramic, ideal for afternoon tea or an evening drink. Crystal Cove is more intimate, with live music as day turns to night. The Avenue Saloon is the classic piano bar, perfect before or after dinner.

crystal cruises seahorse pool

On deck

The pool deck on both ships is generous for vessels of this size, with the Seahorse Pool surrounded by sun loungers and open deck space. The Trident Grill serves poolside throughout the day. For something more active, there are paddle tennis and pickleball courts, golf driving nets with a PGA pro on hand, and a full walking track for guests who prefer their exercise the traditional way.

crystal cruises the library

The details that matter

The library carries over 2,000 titles across multiple genres alongside board games and magazines. The onboard boutique stocks jewellery, watches, and designer apparel. There is a casino for those who want it and a dedicated enrichment studio for those who don’t. High-powered binoculars are available on deck. Complimentary unlimited WiFi runs throughout both ships.

crystal cruises aurora spa

The Aurora Spa

The Aurōra Spa is one of the more impressive facilities aboard either ship, offering a full menu of treatments including aromatherapy, reflexology, Swedish massage, and a comprehensive range of facials and body wraps. Hair and nail services are available in the onboard salon. The sauna and steam room are complimentary for all guests. One thing worth knowing: there are no hot beds or whirlpool relaxation areas, so if that’s important to you it’s worth factoring in before you book.

crystal cruises fitness area

Fitness and wellbeing

The Crystal Life fitness centre is well-equipped with Technogym cardio machines, free weights, and panoramic ocean views. A full programme of classes runs throughout each voyage, including yoga and Pilates, often held on deck in good weather. A dedicated Fitness Director offers personalised instruction for guests who want it. For those who prefer to stay active ashore, Crystal’s partnership with A&K opens up walking tours, cycling excursions, and more in most ports.

crystal cruises entertainment galaxy lounge

Evenings on Crystal

Evenings aboard Crystal are genuinely varied. The Galaxy Lounge hosts Broadway-calibre productions and headline acts, with shows created exclusively for Crystal by a Broadway producer. Live music runs across multiple venues throughout the evening, from the Avenue Saloon piano bar to Crystal Cove. The atmosphere is sophisticated without being formal, and the absence of a dress code beyond smart casual means evenings feel relaxed rather than staged.

crystal cruises bridge room

Enrichment

Crystal’s enrichment programme is one of the most respected at sea and a genuine reason many guests choose the line over comparable alternatives. Expect lectures from high-profile speakers including scientists, diplomats, authors, and the occasional film star. Photography lessons, dance classes, golf tuition with a PGA pro, and language courses with Berlitz are all part of the programme. On sea days these sessions tend to fill quickly, so booking early is advisable.

crystal cruises stardust

Something for everyone

Beyond the main programme, the onboard casino offers table games and slots for those who want them. Starlit movie screenings take place on deck on select evenings. The enrichment studio hosts smaller workshops and masterclasses throughout each voyage. And for guests who simply want to read undisturbed, the library and quieter lounge spaces make that just as easy. Crystal doesn’t push you towards anything. It just makes the options good enough that you’ll want to explore them.

Crystal Families

Families

Crystal welcomes families, though the experience is designed primarily with adults and couples in mind. There are no dedicated children’s clubs or structured kids’ programming, which suits the atmosphere aboard both ships. Families travelling with older teenagers who have an interest in culture, food, and enrichment tend to find it works very well. Connecting staterooms are available on both ships for groups travelling together. If you’re unsure whether Crystal is the right fit for your family, our team can help you decide.

Meet Kirsty, our Crystal Expert

Kirsty is one of our most experienced Voyage Consultants and one of very few UK cruise specialists to have sailed Crystal Serenity since the relaunch. She joined the ship in Barcelona for a Mediterranean sailing in 2025 and spent four days exploring everything the new Crystal has to offer, from dinner at Osteria d’Ovidio to the suite bathroom she described as feeling more like a spa than anything she’d encountered at sea.

That first-hand experience shapes every Crystal conversation she has. She can tell you honestly which cabin categories justify the upgrade, whether the Nobu restaurant lives up to the reputation, and what the relaunch has actually changed compared to the Crystal of before. For guests who sailed Crystal pre-2022 and are curious whether it’s worth returning, Kirsty is exactly the right person to ask.
